This section covers conditions affecting younger or more active patients, where hip shape, soft-tissue structures or rotational mechanics contribute to pain.

Groin Pain
Overview
Groin pain can arise from the hip joint, the surrounding tendons, the pubic area or even the lower back.
Common causes include:
Early hip joint changes
Labral irritation
Iliopsoas tendinopathy
Adductor tendinopathy
Pubic symphysis pain
Lumbar or pelvic referral
Assessment
Assessment includes detailed examination of the hip, pelvis and lower back.
Imaging such as X-ray or MRI may be arranged to confirm the source.
The findings are explained clearly so you understand the nature of the problem.
Treatment options
Physiotherapy focusing on core stability, hip control and strength
Load modification and staged return to activity
Shockwave therapy
Injections (steroid, hyaluronic acid, or diagnostic blocks)
Referral to colleagues specialising in groin surgery where needed
Other Hip & Groin Conditions
Overview
FAI occurs when the shape of your hip leads to increased contact between the ball and socket. This can cause irritation of the labrum (the cartilage rim around the hip socket) and pain during sport or sitting.
Symptoms:
Groin pain
Pain with sitting, especially low chairs
Clicking or catching
Pain during twisting movements
Reduced hip rotation
Mr Buckle's role in these conditions
I provide thorough assessment, arrange appropriate imaging (X-ray, MRI or MR arthrogram) and explain the mechanics behind your symptoms.
Where surgery such as hip arthroscopy or labral repair is beneficial, I arrange referral to trusted young-adult hip specialists.
Non-surgical management
Physiotherapy focused on improving strength and hip control
Load modification
Activity adjustment
Injections where appropriate

Hip Dysplasia & Instability
Overview
Some individuals have subtle hip shape differences that lead to instability, clicking or deep joint discomfort.
Mr Buckle's role in these conditions
I provide assessment, arrange imaging and explain the structural features contributing to the symptoms.
Where surgical correction (e.g., PAO) is required, I refer to the appropriate instability specialist.
